Promoting Your Global Business

One of the key elements is getting the marketing message out to your audience. With the advent of the Internet, many businesses can increase their global reach - yes you can have a global business too.

Perhaps you think you have a local business and global marketing is not in your sphere of interest? Well apply some lateral thinking! Say, you have a restaurant - OK your main market may be local customers. But what about visitors to your town? They will probably want to eat out so if you can pre-sell to them before they arrive you might increase your customer base!

Worried about creating a website? Today using Wordpress and free hosting at Wordpress.com, there is no excuse! You do do not need to be an expert in html, design, website maintenance or computers! It is very easy to setup Wordpress and you can choose a free professional template (design).  So all you have to do is write the content, Wordpress will handle the presentation! Try it - it will cost you NOTHING but your time. Even a novice can be up and running in minutes. Yes - that was MINUTES!

Promoting your website

This might seem a little technical but you can ignore it if you wish! Part of the Wordpress system is a technique called “pinging”. Essentially when you add a new article (post) to your site, Wordpress will automatically alert other sites and search engines about the new content. Yes - read that again - automatically promotes your website by pinging. We advocate that you extend the ping list by adding to the sites that Wordpress can alert (ping). There is a good list at: http://www.dailyblogtips.com/ping-list/. Copy the list, logon to your wordpress blog, click on Settings and then “Writing”, scroll down the page until you see Update Services, paste your ping list into the box and save the changes.

Additional Marketing

One of the additional ways to promote your site and get more visitors is to add your business to “Directories”. Perhaps the best directory is the Yahoo Directory - this costs $299 per annum but is worth the investment. Another is DMOZ - free - but it can take some time to get a listing. There are many other directories. Naturally we recommend our A to Z Directory but there are many others. One of the side benefits of Directory Submission is garnering one-way links for SEO purposes. One-way links will help to improve your search engine rankings in Google. To learn more about SEO / Search Engine Optimisation, we recommend SEOAdviser.info
